COUPLE CLOSE-UP: ALLIE & GREG
This awesome couple is getting married! We are honored that Allie and Greg have chosen to host their upcoming wedding celebration at Beech Hill Barn. Thank you for sharing a little bit about your journey and some insight into your big day! The couple met through mutual friends when they were both 21 and according to the couple, “the rest is history.”
Please tell us about the proposal!
“The proposal was so sweet and thoughtful. We had planned a foliage trip for Columbus Day weekend of 2016. We were planning to leave on Saturday morning. That Friday, Greg told me he made us a dinner reservation at Morse’s Cribstone Grill in Harpswell, a restaurant we hadn’t tried yet. We had a really nice dinner and headed home. Upon arrival, our dog, Gauge, greeted us as he always does. It was dark inside the house, but I noticed that there was something on Gauge’s neck. Greg said something like, oh god, what did he get into!? And I was thinking whattt, the dog never gets into anything! Upon turning on the light, I saw that Gauge had a tie clipped to his collar. I looked up and noticed a vase full of white roses on the table and balloons all over the ceiling in the living room. Each balloon had a picture tied to the balloon strings. When I turned back to look at Greg, he was down on one knee in the kitchen. I can’t even remember what exactly was said, but I was completely surprised and blown away. Each of the pictures hanging from the balloons were pictures of us over the years or of things we have experienced together, like buying our first home and picking out our first puppy. Greg had coordinated with his friend/relative to have him come in to our house while we were at dinner to set everything up and they 100% pulled it off; I never caught on.”
Why did you choose Beech Hill Barn?
“I had been doing a lot of online research and when I found this venue, I loved everything I saw and read. I showed Greg the website and he said, that’s it! We loved the idea of having the Country House available at the venue and that the property offered the East Field right next to the barn where we can enjoy an outdoor tented dinner with friends and family, and then have the music and dancing in the barn. Once we finally scheduled a visit at Beech Hill, we fell completely in love with the venue. We knew driving away that afternoon that we would be booking there. Having the ability to pick all of our own vendors to create our unique wedding day is just what we were looking for. The owner, Priscilla, is the best and has been so easy to communicate with.”
What do you picture for your wedding day and who are some of the vendors you chose to help create your vision?
“We are both looking forward to celebrating big with all of our friends and family in September. We picture a fairly short and sweet outdoor ceremony in the Oak Grove, followed by a huge tented outdoor meal, and dancing the night away with a fantastic band in the Barn. We have chosen Fire & Company to cater our meal from their wood grill and rotisserie menu. We both have very large families and are looking forward to bringing everyone together with large rows of tables and family style dining service. We have booked Andrea, owner of Honeysuckle Way, to be our flower master. She has been wonderful to work with so far, and we are excited to see what she is able to put together for us; we’re going big! We’ve rented a beautiful sailcloth tent from Sperry, additional farm tables and chairs from Lani at Heartwood Essentials, and some wonderful plates and decorations from Paula at A Family Affair of Maine. Kayla Joy, a friend and hair stylist/makeup artist, will be sprucing up the ladies. We’ve hired Courtney Elizabeth to be our photographer, and are so looking forward to having such a wonderful talent spend the day with us. Shout out to Ashley of Silverbell Photography for shooting these great engagement photos for us. We’ve also booked Northeast Charter & Tour Co. to provide shuttle service for our guests. We’ve booked a few other fantastic vendors, but don’t want to give it all away before the big day!”
